I'm probably repeating something you've been told, but the number key corresponds to the card number displayed much like the flower menu. '1' activates the first card (on the left), '5' activates the last card (right-most). I only repeat this as in your report it seems you're saying you think '1' activates punch, '2' activates left hook, etc. Maybe I'm reading it wrong.

I'd be a sad panda, as this was an easy(er?) way to take out someone that left scents (assuming you could get into the walls), but with how much damage is done by big attacks and archery, I probably just need to get in there and do some evil deeds myself to get a feel for it.

Was kind of wondering why I hadn't read anything in the Moot about summon kills yet.

Hey MM, thanks for replying ... :) ... no, you were right I did think that, that each move was related to a certain number, regardless of that though only the numbers 4 and 5 actually do anything and those two just bring up the two defence moves I mentioned ... if I press 1,2 or 3 nothing happens at all, no cards come up on the screen and she just stands there while the animal (bat) ko's her .... well, actually one of them, I forget which now just brings up a normal action, like mining or fishing or something, so, anyway, I take it you still need to be able to use all 5 of the number keys (or am I still not understanding it correctly?) which is why I can't use jump, punch or left hook as they are the first three in my line up, for example, if on starting combat I wanted to just punch something I would press 3 (?) activating the 3rd card which is punch, but when I do she just stands there does nothing and the card doesn't come up on screen .... if I press 4 or 5 first then those other moves (quick dodge and sidestep) appear as normal, in the 4th and 5th position in my line up, if I then try to use 1,2 or 3, still nothing but if I press 4 or 5 again I still get those two defence moves, idk, I'm sure now from what you have said that it just comes down to me misunderstanding something but I honestly can't see what .... however the cards come up, still nothing happens and no moves appear when I press 1,2 or 3 and no matter how many times I press 4 and 5 I still only get those same two moves, except sometimes they don't come up because, I guess, combat reasons, like cooldown or something, idk, I'm used to a sling.

You CAN click them if you want, and it'll probably work for hunting, but for PvP combat, you really need to be able to move around (helps hunting, too.)

I did see your other post a while back about it, and if it is a software/hardware issue on your computer, it's something you'll need someone locally to take a look at (or someone that you trust remotely). I can't even begin to think of what to suggest to look for other than restoring your operating system or a complete reinstall (and that may be drastic).

That dosn't seem to work for me. Would also have a huge capacity for fuckup in case you want to move while in combat...

Amanda, please PM (or post) the make and model of your computer/keyboard, plus info on what OS you use and the language settings (available keyboard layouts).

@ MM - Ok, thanks, it has now got to the point where it is hindering my game, ofc, so it is an issue which will have to be sorted if I want to continue playing. I have a 'pc guy' who takes care of all my pc stuff .... partly why I never learn much myself despite him constantly telling me "google is your friend" .... google would probably be my friend if I ever understood anything it told me regarding pc stuff but it may as well be speaking Martian as far as I'm concerned.

Anyway, I'll contact him later today and see if he knows what the problem is, he at least games so fingers crossed!

@ Granger - yeah I can't click them either, it doesn't work, she just moves to the point on the screen where I've clicked the icon. I will pm you all that info later as not at home and don't know these things without looking, unless the pc guy is available to sort it today, in which case I'll update and say what the problem was. Tonky also had a suggestion which is simple and may be connected.

Thanks for your help. :)

We should implement a mouse controlled interface under all circumstances.

Please, please, if you do that then make the ability of clicking the cards an option that can be turned off (so it doesn't get in the way of moving around).

Something to change the active target would be nice, and i still would prefer the function keys for that, compared to having to click around in some menu.

Any chance you could do that now .... :P

After extensive messing around, losing my armour, my ranger boots and leaving me with quite a few wounds ... :( ... it turns out there appears to be no rhyme or reason for why the keys won't apply themselves.
My pc is working perfectly, my keyboard is working perfectly, my number keys perform the correct function on all other games, and here except for the 1,2,3 during combat ... it's strange and a mystery was all that could be concluded.

None-the-less, I'm about to send you the info you asked for Granger, just on the off-chance.

My personal conclusion is that this game loves me as much as I love it and won't let me into combat ..... :P :D

Can you write 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 in the chat window?

Wow, no, lol, only from the top row of numbers above the letters, not from the number pad - that was a surprise, what does it mean?

Right, I can if I use numbers lock ... which was the suggestion from a friend yesterday, but I tried that in combat and it didn't change anything then, I still couldn't activate punch or left hook but I think I saw jump appear at one point, just before I was almost ko'd and had to break combat - should I try that again?
