Linked to a private claim in your village? Gotta make sure you have vandal in village roles (lawspeaker always has it) and on all Pclaims.

Otherwise just buy the vandalism crime skill, turn on criminal acts, and bash it while leaving a scent.

The problem is that the small wooden signpost is affected by the claim that covers the big wooden signpost somewhere.

You can try following the trail and asking them to destroy their big wooden signpost and "forfeit" the trail (assuming it's going to be blocked by your village anyway.)

If that's the case, then isn't it a bug that you cannot affect a thing that does not have a P claim or V claim covering it?

Not really a bug, more of a consequence as to how the road mechanics work. If you connect two claims by road, and the main road signs start and end on each claim, both claims technically own the road. If you were to destroy the main roadsign/milestone on your claim and lacked vandalism permissions at the other claim, it would lead to a scenario like the one you're experiencing now in which you'd be unable to destroy or re-connect the road without vandalism. The entirety of a road is owned by the claim(s) they start/end on.

If the other party is unwilling or unable to cooperate and you want to reduce the number of scents that you would need to leave by breaking it with vandalism, start at the last milestone you want to get rid of if you have enough strength to break the connection somewhere along the route. Or break the main milestone at the start/end point if that's your preference.

Also I think it's still the case that personal claim permissions take priority over village claim for most things, but don't quote me on that.

It's been figured out. I had to get criminal acts Vandalism in order to break the road signs.
