Stick it with a sword? :P
If you can't melee it, your only option is archery. 60 perc is nice, just make a good bow and get some MM. Get a boat, find a bear, try to get it somewhere where land changes directly into deep water, without shallow. Aggro it, get an alt to block it with branch stockpiles so it can't flee, and practice some archery on it.

False, bears can break branch stockpiles as of weeks ago.

I haven't found animals to break stockpiles while fleeing.

ive found that pumpkin pie and Steak a tubers is an okish food to use if you want to get a few points of str and cannot hunt big game, but the best to me is always going to be cheese/bear meat/bear banger/piglet wurst/morels/meat pie.

Correct. Fleeing animals won't break things which is nice.

Just note, if using this archery method inland with cliffs, once the bear enrages he'll smash through everything and come gunning at you. Easily handled by figuring out where the bear will run at you from and lining up a 5 tile shot for when it comes through. You might get dinged up though.

One meat pie if you can handle the chance of Constitution and then full it the rest of the way with yellow feet and morels. Morels are good because they are only strength so you can keep your chance of getting strength high. One walnut is good for a splash of psych.

Your real problem is not leveling up evenly. You are going to waste a lot of food and points by going straight to 60 in perception. I recommend not doing so actually. Keep your high perception character around for foraging and start a new one and level strength on that one. Especially if you are doing this to mine, there is no point in having a miner with anything other than strength unless you really need those cave curios. Even then its probably easier to level a new character for perception and strength from scratch than playing catchup with your current one.
