the obvious way. as soon as i wake up, i look for animals to attach to posts. that way the taming window is open for as long as possible.
Newbie and noob do not mean the same thing.

Neither do figuratively and literally.

Well, taming an mouflon here, and I kinda found a problem. The time between fights is NOT 24. it's something arround 19h! Not exactly sure, might be LESS! Saying that because of the times I got a taming session:

Hitched it for the first time at saturday 1:30am
Found him already in battle stance saturday 8:30 PM (so, 19h after I hitched him, but he MIGHT've entered combat before). Fought to surrender, 25 yellow goes up, hitched.
Found him in battle stance sunday 3:30 PM (19h, but I think he was already on battle stance when I logged in, so it's obiously less than 19h). On this session, got 75 yellow. hitched!

Problem is: I really tought it to be 24h (so I would tame it everyday preciselly 1:30 am and be happy without loosing any window). Now that I'm pretty sure it's less than 19h (or complettely sure it'll be battle ready in 19h), the next battle stance will be arround monday 12:30pm. If everyone is right and he remains on battle stance for 6h, and then I have to wait another full round, this mouflon is lost. Because monday 12:30pm I'll be at work. 6 hours from 12:30pm would be 6:30pm. I leave work at 7:00pm. If it takes another 19 hours, then 1:30pm on the other day when I'm again at work...

This system don't help much if you work, study or anything else...

Small update: (mainly for those that have yet not done this before, and make a search on the forums)

I still have not successfully tamed a sheep. The one I initially started out with , I managed to kill. I forgot to click that yield button as soon as the fight started. Doh. So off I went again and got two more.

I also found it is a good idea to hitch the mouflon up to the post with the character that is going to do the taming. It took awhile before I noticed that little yellow number when the mouflon yielded. Right above those red numbers that give you an indication of how much damage you do. Or maybe those tell me how much damage the mouflon does to my character. (Yeah - this is how interested I am in the combat side of things...) Now I know where those taming points can be read. I searched for that info in the system message, but it was not found there.

I am on my third/fourth day, and my taming percent for both are at 95. So , perhaps tomorrow - if I can get it in my schedule. The main challenge later will be to get the time to log on at a specific time, as the taming attempt itself does not take too long. Keep the defenses up, use punch and left hook, make sure you have clicked the yield button - and it is done in 2-3 min. This on a character with 49 agility and 46 UA. The two mouflons have been ready ca every 24 hours, except once when I had to wait 30 hours on one of them.

I have followed the advice of just try taming when I see them ready, and just play as normal. Of course, this during a time where I have been in a casual power play mode. I am going back to my normal casual player soon. Hopefully I have sheep tomorrow, and if I am very very lucky - I have a female and a male.

Several months later, and I have successfully tamed mouflons. In plural. I have the technique down now, and character suffer less damage because of the amazing Vapntryiu I now can make. Leather is still too costly and rare for me, especially after the archery nerf.

I am however cursed. Not one of the gazillion mouflons I have tamed is a male. So my quest continues.

Slaughter them as you tame them, and that will solve your leather issues :)

Yes, that would seem to be the obvious choice wouldn't it  But I have plans .

with 50 UA , and 40 Agility you should be able to tame all the types of animals easily.. I just did it myself.. Now the hard part of keeping them all fed =)

I finally got a male the first week of july. Yay!

If you ever want to refer to casuals, and the time it takes to get things done ingame for that group - just point them to this thread. Now on to the next goal, a horse.

Can you shoot an animal to tame it? I really don't want to be battered by the thing.
