Well big factions and full time pvpers are "average" people, since there's much more members of big factions than casual players. Realistically, soon enough people with 300 stats will be the ones you will want to defend against.
Getting into combat with someone is already a mistake if you just want to defend yourself. Take proper precautions, get as much armor as possible, as much constitution and agility as possible, as much melee combat and unarmed combat as possible, etc.
The more the better.

Last thing, can I please get some numbers UA/MC/AGI to take on/tame boars foxes horses deers aurochs mouflons and badgers ?

Can I also get some explanations about the shield ? Does QL matter ? The wiki page is from legacy, is it still the same ? Can I still use my UA defense with it ? Do I have to wear one to get the combat discoveries ?

shield q doesn't matter
animals deal 10-30 damage so 30/x is good. they do have a power move that does 60-120 depending on which animal, takes 2ip for most animals to use so you can usually tell when it's coming

mc of 20-30 is minimum i would say. maybe more if you're learning how to fight or low agility (from armor)

id reccomend 30 UA/agi for bats and foxes 40 for badgers or 35 if you've really gotten the hang of the combat system. 45 for mouflon 50 for aurochsen of course good armor allows you to take animals on with lower stats at the risk of losing said armor.

shield quality doesnt matter if i recall correctly, but yes you must saitsfy the combat conditions to learn any attack. for example if you need a shield equipped to use it, you need a shield equipped to learn it. same for moves that costs initiative points such as sting chop ect. you need a weapon that can use those moves, like a sword equipped and the correct amount of IP to pull it off.
