This sample size is ridiculous.

Smelt chances (assuming no skills?): http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Ore

i saw the smelt chances of the wiki too, this is why i've start the post, 'cause in the wiki tell 30% chance, means i had to got at least 30 bar of iron but i've got none... someone know the real chance?

The wiki says 6% chance for heavy earth. I'm not sure if that's with or without mining skills but with heavy earth you should expect on average about one bar per smelter load (25). Also, to increase the chance of getting ore, make sure to get the tunnelling, deep artifice and other mining skill (forgot the name).

The chance of getting no bars after 100 ore is 0.2%. Are you sure you did 100? ;)

I've been pretty happy with my chalcopyrite... Never had an empty smelter. Had some with 1, 2, 3 bars, up to 5 in a smelter. I have the 2 first mining skills too. 100 ores is only 4 smelers, you've just been unlucky, it happens.

Um, you're misreading the wiki then. Heavy Earth is 6%.

yep, i'm preatty sure to have misreaded the wiki xD anyway i'm sure to have done 4 full charges of the smelter (totally 100 pieces) and i've all the skill apart deep artifice (150k lp for now are pretty too much at the moment :P)... so i think i'm extraordinarily unlucky T_T

u told that every piece isn't affect by the others, so mix ore in the smelter didn't anything bad isn't it? because i've loaded 3 of the 4 charges with mixed ore (to be precise cassiterite, chalcopyrite and heavy earth, but the first 2 were a lower quantity compared to the 3rd one)

normally how much ore u smelted before obtaining a single bar?

There no normally with RNG :)

I'm getting at least a bar / full load with chalcopyrite.

And mixing ore doens't impact the smelting chance afaik.

if I'm not wrong, the wiki percentages are those with all skills (including deep artifice), so, the max possible chance! Thus, the chance of a ore turning into a bar of metal is decided when the ore is mined, not smelted! So, if you mine the equivalent of 10 smelters of ore without any of the mining skills besides mining, get all the skills and then smelt, the results will still be linked to you as having only the mining skill. But, if someone with all the skills (including deep artifice) mine the ore, and someone without any the skills smelt it, the results are still liked to the player who mined it having all the skills!

oh... i think i'll spare the LP for getting deep artifice, it's the last skill i need to learn... tnx for the advice ^^

finally i got the first metal bars, from another charge of 25 pieces (this time only chalcopyrite) and i've obtained 1 copper bar and 1 cast iron bar :D

Deep artifice doesn't make the biggest difference, but it's good to aim for pretty early on as a miner. Congrats on getting metal at last!
