Keep any animal with high q breeding for a while even if the other stats are below 10

After quite a while you can start killing of those that have other low q stats - but you need to get breeding q up before doing that.

and kill everything below q10 in breeding immediately so it doesnt spread :D

You don't need physical access to the trough. The animal only needs to be inside of the radius when you build or set it down. (I believe some of the custom clients will show this as a toggle for all existing troughs.)

I can't see the trough radius (and don't recall it off the top of my head), but it does look like several of those animals can be outside of it at any given time. And yeah, if they want to eat grass, they have a radius they'll eat the grass from (up to 3 tiles, I seem to have seen in the past).

I will say once they get going, they do stop eating grass when you have troughs near. It's almost like a behavioral thing that I'm sure doesn't actually exist in game.

I would love nomadic life and herding and that kind of nonsense, but I a) do not see it working well with present mechanics for ownership and whatnot of cattle, and b) it, indeed, interacts poorly with the quality mechanics.

In this river-world, nomads will kill themselves if they had to cross every stream with livestock.

About the topic: At the end I decided to remove all the grass in and around the ranch and it seems they no longer leave more malformed animals, although consumption has increased a little bit I think
