Dangerous areas to settle?

Get out of the middle. Try near edges. I live in a place with a few neighbors who are incredibly nice to live next to.

That isn't as useful in the current world as players don't spawn centrally. They can appear anywhere on the map.

you will be safe anywhere you settle so long as your not right next to someone else's base, and as long as you claim all your land and protect it with a pali wall no one will have reason to mess with you.
