Bows have 80 damage, stone arrows have 80 damage, bone arrows have 100. These are base, at 40q they double, 90q triple, 160q quadruple.
Though the exact modifier is sqrt(sqrt(substance*perception)/10) * base damage.
With 50mm, you should be able to shoot any animal in the game reliably before they can move too far. a 10q bow/arrow will let you 1-shot everything up to deers. You'd need 40q or a bit higher to one-shot aurochsen. Bears/moose probaably won't be getting one-shot until 90, dunno their exact hp.
For pvp, you want as much as possible. MM starts wavering in actual usefulness after about 200-250, after that focus on UA in order to be able to throw up simple defenses (which makes you impossible to kill in 1v1's against someone with equal stats, for the most part.)
Bows use boughs, not branches. 2 boughs + 8 strings.
For hunting, you can clip animals on cliffs and shoot up/down the cliff, so UA/agi/con is useless. Keep in mind all animals will run away from you after taking A. too much damage or B. being unable to path to you and taking an arrow shot.
If you want to fight anyone half-decent, get 200 marksman, 300 perception, 200 ua/200 agi and some decent armor and you should be fine against most people, including 2v1's so long as you can spam defenses right and know how to actually aim
Very very helpful reply, very constructive and informative. Kudos to you.
I didn't know bows now take boughs. Okay well they'll be q10 too by default so no big deal, but 8 strings means I can raise my bow q up a bit higher if I use some q20~ taproots as strings. And same for arrows, the bones will be q20~.
Another question; "one shot anything up to deers"... What counts under that? Fox, Boars? And do deers count too? I am not interested too badly in oneshotting, I know how to reset aggro and run in the general direction the enemy ran to and hunt it down on 2nd shot if needed. So yeah, just would like to know what falls under that category.
