Hmm. My bet is on "yes". It won't take long to test this.
Update: after invsetigating the existing cases, my answer is definitely "yes": as Jorb stated in this thread,
jorb wrote:Hearthing home should not imply gaining a visitor debuff.

Highly doubt this. A banner extends the territory of existing village with existing autority, permissions etc. If anything, you'll most likely have to destroy banners as well in order to deploy your own idol (to avoid intersections of claims). Otherwise it's a major hole in game mechanics.

Then how the fuck am I able to bash banners with the visitor debuff? Will I be able to do so without leaving scents/crim acts if the village no longer exists?

I can only speculate from this point on. You'll have to bash the Idol first. That's kinda lengthy process, given that shield is active. My trade is construction, you'll have to wait for someone of a more "raiding" personality to actually bother answering those questions. Maybe the banners lose all authority when corresponding idol is destroyed. Maybe they even despawn along with it (both suggestions wasn't the case in Legacy, but who knows). Maybe you're better off building something outside the walls but on the village claim and then bashing that object to bring the shield down first (I've seen threads with speculating on this being a valid siege tactics). Anyways, if you need help bringing down/constructing something, that can be arranged. I'm bored, and can provide you with no further solid theoretical help on this matter: never actually had to destroy a village as a whole.

Went into minehole and ported back out to solve vititor debuff. Now all I need is to destroy the idol.

Do I need to destroy the idol with a wrecking ball? Tried smashing it with a sledge and it just gave me a message that the land is owned. I've never done this be4 so.

no

You shouldn't be able to do that under the visitor debuff as far as I know but as soon as you destroy the idol (or the authority goes under 50k you can destroy both the idol or banners) you won't leave scents.

A village with authority remaining requires you to break the idol with a siege machine, yeah
