How do you start farming?

Walk around until you see a randomly generated farm, steal all the hemp but don't get caught, and watch out for beehives. I'm not sure what to do with it though, I always are caught and murdered. Farms are the most valuable resources in haven

You need to get some seeds. The most rewarding way to get seeds is to find wild windsown seeds.
Increase your perception and exploration to find more of those. Hang them to dry on a drying rack. And also get the farming skill.

My grandmother plays haven she told me if I eat to many pumpkin seeds one will grow and my belly explode.
