No.

Yes...

World 1: 5 Months 3 Days
World 2: 5 Months 0 Days
World 3: 10 Months 1 Day
World 4: 2 Months 2 Days
World 5: 7 Months 11 Days
World 6: 1 Year 7 Months 10 Days
World 8: 5 Months 22 Days

Average: Roughly 7.5 months
World 9: 9+ months

Let me repeat myself... IF history is any indicator.

And stop weaseling around the 'do not request world wipe' rule. All of you.

I wasn't aware I was requesting a reset, or anyone else for that matter...

Dang that kinda sucks. I guess they can't know exactly when a big change will occur. Still, a delay would be nice but I respect their choice

Wondering if I should really invest time in this new character though...

The point of not announce it is so that you do not ask this question. If you knew world is reset in some 3 month, why you will play the game for this 3 month? Any effort you do is obvious waste. Might as well just be resetting world now if this is case. Hence why there is no announcing in advance. World could reset tomorrow, world could reset year from now. If you want to play game, then play game.

Only in case you leave out the reaons why the worlds ended, they would have ran longer if not for their iindividual premature end:
World 3: Killed by server corruption
World 4: Killed by botting
World 5: Killed by server corruption
World 6: New map generator
World 8: A certain faction killed it off in the minimum time required after given the ability to do it

So, if history is any indicator: New mapgen or the server dies (if my guess that J&L learned from W8 to not do something like that again soon is correct).

Also:
World 7: 3 Years 179 Days and counting

Finally:

I've to contest that. They added localized ressource, so new mapgen plus the big fuck up on ore quality is why they reseted, imo.

Thinking it MIGHT reset soon causes just as many people to quit, many months before the actual reset, especially with world 9 for example.
Anyway it's silly to "trick" people into playing longer. If they don't want to waste tons of time that should be their right... That doesn't mean they are unworthy or don't like game. They could still enjoy the game without spending all their time grinding. But w/e I'm sure this conversation has been had a million times.

Well you have a point. In theory, the likelihood of something stupid killing the server gets smaller with every world, on account of J&L's past experience. Although mathematically speaking, there is no indication that this trend has begun based on the length of previous worlds.

(not arguing with you, just being mildly smartass because it's fun)

The ore quality after cuck hombre was still actually lower than what you can get now

The average quality was far higher. Q150 node was really common, and q90-100 was the lowest quality at L5.

Point being they didn't actually fix the ore quality if it being that high was an issue, localized resources are simply points to place an alt hf at without being able to claim them as well.

Personally I hope they devise another way to end the world through an in-game means but the altar was dumb.

I still think we need a world wipe feature driven by players. Leaves the choice to the people.
Something where destroy the world should be way harder than save it...to blance things. Idk, something like sacrifices into RoB for the evil god of world wipe...and something like building small chapels/altars...or simply some prayers you can make once a day to the good god that allow to save the world.
Something like that in a way that until there are at least some players that actively decide to save the world it cannot be destroyed.
When no good soul is playing the game anymore the evil forces will win and the world destoyed. Then repeat.
Make friends with the other crabs or try to escape the bucket.
