I remember a thing I heard about W8 and it was something like at the end they had a big faction war over saving/nuking the world(run by devs) and it was so overwhelming to nuke it that it didnt take any time for that side to win since it was 90% of the player base...But then the devs said they were going to do it anyways so moot point.

But no there is no way to break the world or dominate it 100% unless you can get a few hundred people to band together etc and in this game it can be hard to get 10 of them together and still have order.

I think you are all talking about this;

It was how the end of world 8 ... ended. :)

Damn it, Amanda. Posting anyway for hopefully clear TL;DR: and info about how it played out.

w8 was special case. When devs came to conclusion that reset is required, they implemented never-before seen system that allows players to end the world. "Altar of Ruin" was added, allowing Hearthling to sacrifice themselves on it and start process of undoing the world. Other people could try destroy the altar or replace themselves on altar (if they had higher stats, otherwise they would just die) Altar would trigger lore event to everyone explaining that world is coming to an end and gradually lower soak of all the walls to zero.

It didn't go exactly as planned. Largest faction gathered the materials for faster than devs expected, then built houses (unaffected by soak reduction effect) to block access to altar.

This time devs just announced set date when wipe will occur. IIRC this was also the case in previous worlds during "legacy" Haven.

:D .. makes a change for me to be the ninja!

It was fun, that last day, I really wish the devs had done something along those lines for the end of this world, all those bodies around the alter was a sight, mine was there! :lol:

You can break the world in other ways, too.

Like chopping down every single tree, or mining out every single tile of stone and ore. Would take a while though.
