Swimming isn't nearly as dangerous as it used to be.

Ok, I was just able to swim across a river without even touching my HP. Cool!

I hear you! Makes the game more enjoyable, really. I'm looking up only things that are life/death.

Even if you do run out of stamina, your health starts to act as a second stamina, decreasing as you gain more and more "asphyxiation" wounds.

Better than dying early.

I think I'd rather die. Death at least means resetting the hunger bar and satiation penalties, so there's a limit as to how much you'd lose and make it worthwhile, but that -5 INT will put a serious damper on LP production for a few days.

Then again... it takes a few hours to get a boat. Why a rush crossing a river unless you're on a tiny island and can only get a few curios?

Yea..there's really no reason to get swimming so early. I only just got it a couple months ago and I've been enjoying it. But for new players or players who are unsure of their character jut yet, swimming isn't a good option right away.

When you are trapped in an island while questing it's not a bad option. At least if you do it smartly and explore first to find the smallest rivers to cross.

With an hour or two more of preparing you can get a boat and not waste time swimming back and forth which on the long run will consume more of your energy than building the boat. Having low energy early game means you have to eat more junk food and your satiations fall and hunger bar fills up.
