So the previous combat in Early W9 and all of W8 meant essentially that once you hit a certain amount of UA or MC your defences became strong enough to be effectively invulnerable to a given enemy. Now that combat has changed you will almost always take damage of some form until your combat levels are high enough to wrack up openings very quickly, which seems to require quite a lot more UA or MC than did the card combat system in order to knock down enemy defenses.

I'll be killing bats with bow for an unfortunately long time I suspect. Or simply running for my life :lol:

1.Get bow/sling,
2. kill bats till you make a bat cape,
3. ???
4. never worry about bats again, batman. err Profit!!

I have a Leather Pants (4/5) and no other armor. At 22 strength and 23 agility (-3 due to pants, so effectively 20) and 18 UA, I can kill bats with minimal damage and at most 3 wear (usually just 1) by spamming Punch (basic level, not sure if that was 1 or 2). You'll lose a bit of SHP and gain a bunch of minor wounds, but that's it.
