Gilding At Early Stage

No one mentioned heartwood leaves? +5 perc +5 cook +5 farm, i usually get 4 in my newbie set. Am I totally dumb and wasting resources or are they not considered early stage gilds?

Wow, typing "gilding" seems really counter-intuitive. Is it just me and OP who seem to somehow naturally type "gliding" instead? OP or mod, would you mind fixing the subject line please so we (I)* can find this again in a subject search. Some really useful early game info in here.

Hover your cursor over the freshly gilded item. It will have the gild details and if there's another slot available, there will be a blue "gildable" underneath it. It's rather obvious.

FFFFFFFfffffudge. I've been just right clicking with a gild item to see if it lets me try again. Unbelievable. I didn't bother with my current gear said "nyeh, i'll check it all later". So mad at myself right now. I knew there had to be some indicator but i just didn't see it.

If you've been clicking with the same type of item you just gilded, it wouldn't let you gild even if the second slot was available. You can only gild one item of a type (i.e one taproot lacing) in each piece of gear.
