Wander around making nettle clothes and attach taproots, recycle what doesn't get gilded

After you have 10 or so and hopefully around 50 suv you can add a leather patch, this gives roughly 9% chance to gild again

With enough luck and perseverance, you can get a useful level 3 artifact this way, I already got a full set of +8 suv +7 exp +1 perception clothes

I have a level 3 gilded spruce cap because I kept recycling them since easy to make. I got lucky and my first level 2 gild also became my first level 3 gild, both on a 6% chance

(How to hopefully not do it: Get seven quests for a L3 artifact. Make a straw hat of +many farming. Get murdered immediately after telling the last tree about your new headgear. )
