If you have unlocked the mats for sure, and have jewelry making unlocked, the only thing I could think of would be some skill, as was suggested above.
Perhaps metallurgy, steel-making, deep artifice, or something along those lines.

Also, are you completely certain the person who tried to re-teach you silver actually knew it? The game lets you teach stuff, even if you don't know the item. It just doesn't unlock it for the other person.

Yeah I am sure they knew it. I have everything except that 150,000 lp one. I guess I will be waiting to see if that works.
