That would seem to conflict a bit with the current idea that a Realm that has lost its coronation stone can build another one, though.

I could see the argument being made for villages, though, but, hmm. I dunno, but I have to say I don't hate the idea that there should be some element of labor involved in literally razing a village to the ground, no?

At least remove the soak when the master structure is gone, please? Not all characters are force-fed for STR...

Regarding village banners it would be nice if characters with the permission to build these would also be able to destroy them (certainly only the ones of their own village), no soak applied. IMHO it's feels to much as a *FU* when you try to remove a banner that you just misplaced a minute ago, but can't.

If there was a previous realm there, aren't there simply border cairns left over from it?

it was in fact an active realm, NK to be truthful. I just suspect the game doesn't want you building within such close proximity to another stone, even if the other was destroyed. An issue that I had was that I didn't know why I couldn't or where I could build, it just gave me a "you cant build there" or "this land is already ruled" and nothing further, so I was lost as to what I was supposed to do. So I just went on a spree of destroying as many stones as I could around the realm to it eventually let me put a single stone down.

My recollection is that you could expand realms within about 5 tiles of each other but I guess this could have changed since I last played if you are having issues in expanding borders that close. They however can't overlap with each other and so attempting to place a cairn on your border that would cause an overlap with another will relay that "this land is already ruled" message to you. "You can't build there" is simply the ground being too uneven in most cases.

I think a neat idea would be to have, when you destroy the initial stone/cairn, have like a ripple go out around the player, accompanied with a deep perhaps drum sound. The ripple would be very similar or the same as when dousing or tracking, and several arrows in this instance, pointing to the various directions of the remaining interfering realm cairns that the player next has to address. This would I believe, have the added feel of like, yea..., I just did something ¦]

Edit: On reviewing this I realize that I misread what you were saying entirely... Not surprising considering I have neither built nor destroyed a realm cairn yet :P
Just my .O2... Taste, drink.., like/hate...
