You can drain water from Chicken Coop with waterskin (or flask, but it's slower) or possibly by first removing swill with barrel/through and then using barrel on the coop, then putting swill and hq water back.

Been breeding chickens since the world start and I can say for sure that its water Q+ swill Q/2 (the average of the 2) that softcaps chicken quality. You can tell when you hit a softcap when your chickens start showing quality in decimals like 320.2.

quality 10 chicken and rooster with 30 quality food and quality 30 water worst case scenario you'll get a quality 8 egg best scenario quality 15 egg

if you have a quality 10 hen and a quality 15 rooster the egg can be quality 8 to Quality 20 the lowest quality chicken/rooster decides the minimum base value

you need one rooster for every three hens
