Corpses of wild animals have always rotted, but for some reason domestic animals never rot...

They do not rot, take this image as a proof. Fps is 4

I admit from the outset that I may be mistaken in the following belief: I do believe domestic animals which die on unclaimed land still rot and only domestic animals which die on claimed land do not.

It’s not because they’re domesticated or not. It’s because most domesticated animals sit on claims. Claims stop any animal corpse from decaying I believe.

I'm quite certain I've taken many a bear corpse from a wagon that has sat in New Cydathria Town Square a few weeks too long and had it deteriorate in my hands. I know this has happened when I've taken mooseseses from one of our knarrs, which sit within the village claim.

I am positive they do not. I am somewhat less positive, but I believe it is the unique combination of domesticated animals on claimed land that preserves the gene-spliced, antibiotic injected, GMO corn-fed bodies of domesticated swine.

Domestic animal corpses don't decay anywhere.

It is the event in Legacy that prompted the end of the pig horde I do think. When the dev's confirmed game lag was the pig island many of us went and just slaughtered them. It took a few days in total but finally the lag decreased. Now starvation mechanics stop the out of control pig hordes.
