Go tame a horse and grind your candleberries. I'm a hermit with 2 mineholes placed so far, so I can assure you being a hermit isn't the problem here.

In the beginning of the game mine hole is to get to 2nd cave level. If you want to show off and get to 1st level not by a regular cave entrance but by your own mine hole with blackjack and hookers - it's your own problem.

And it's 100 candleberries for a mine hole, not 1000.

It´s the price you pay for living the patrician hermit lifestyle
Collect more candleberries, build more beeskeps and you´ll have your minehole in no time.
Other options is trade indeed, seek out your neighbours and see if you can trade anything for it

its not really unfair, obviously villages progress faster, but they are dependant on multiple people to do their job which can be tricky. Also you certainly didnt expect a hermit to have his own minehole so early in the world? Unless you dedicate several hours a day just raiding bee hives and getting candleberries. If you are tight with your neighbours who are also hermits might be good idea to team up and make a minehole together. This approach has some issues like trust and such, but if you cant wait thats a way to go at first. other than that i would advise to find unoccupied ( or perhaps even one that has outer walls dug out ) to start off, you can gets some decent stones to improve your facilities and producecgoods for trade.

It takes 100 candleberries to build 1 minehole, not 1000
