For hunting,I would suggest pure MC with either sideswipe/shieldup or QB/Cleave/parry. Cleave allows you to avoid animal fleeing where sideswipe tends to do the highest DPM. Parry scales well with cleave (opens blue to compliment the red for QB), but the additional defensive weight from shield up is better for PvE hunting IMO.
For PvP it gets much more complicated, but most of the good manouvers are UA based, and most openers are also UA based. Since attacks requiring weapons don't consult MC for damage calculations, pure UA is better.
That being said, if you're not training the character specifically for PvP combat, a mix will make you survivable in more situations. I usually run 4MC/3UA, which allows me to mix and match openers and attacks.
