What are good things to ask hermits/noobs/small towns for?

Ask, answer and discuss any and all topics about the hows, whys, wheres and whens of playing Haven & Hearth.

No good answer on that questions is also a reason why I usually wait for world reset to start playing again.

I wish there were more rare foragebles, that are like flotsams, bluebells and mandrakes. Production-wise, big villages will always outpower hermits.

That's a good hint.
Increase knarr damage on saltwater and add damage on freshwater too. All small people will be making tar. Problem solved. /s
Ok, not 100% sarcastic, consumables might be the way to go but the pain will be incredible.

If you want to trade you should switch from "I can do it myself" mindset to "I want to do it myself". And trade the rest of the stuff for what you enjoy producing.

I agree with this. The current trade precedent is the problem. Nobody seems willing to undercut the gold standard subtoken. I personally think $10 for a pickaxe or saw and other tools is completely unreasonable. $10 for some top tier crop/tree seeds or clay... perhaps.

Why can't things that are an inconvenience to make be valuable?

A knarr full of cupboards/large chests should have some value.

Imho, trading itself is a bit wonky since it usually just boils down to buying and selling items. One of the issues that follows is what to do with the smaller man that wants to trade, but is not prepared to throw real money at the problem.

If possible, i'd even like to see different continents having different resources, this would make trading with hermits and such a bit more convenient because they can trade something which might be rare for you.

I digress, usually if i trade with a hermit, i ask them for either Localizeds, Tar, barrels of other liqueds or sometimes i just ask them to make me a whole bunch of cloth or rope for it.

Agreed. Doesnt even have to be that extreme, just time sync. A small group or hermit that has metal would probably be happy to fill a large chest order for a high quality anvil or better set of tools.

I'm a hermit and have been playing this world for 2 weeks now. What I have that I think got at least some value is foraged curios like bloated boletes, bluebells and flotsams, as well as a small amount of localized resources. Since producing higher quality items than a village is not an option there's only bulk items left. I don't really know what sort of items a village really needs in bulk that I could produce, but perhaps bone glue, rope or leather.

What I'm looking for to buy I can't really find in any trade posts though. I already have access to metal and most other things I need, but what I'd really like is the ability to produce at least decent quality items myself. For this I'd really need some crop and tree seeds of decent quality. Is this something that people are willing to sell?

Eiter you trade for it or you don't. .

I could put up a metal axe for 1,000 blueberries because that's what it's worth to me. But there's no way newbies will be able or willing to do that, nor should they be. The problem with things I'm easily able to do in industrial scale is that I know offering to buy that stuff is just plain insulting. I want people to feel like they're getting good value, and because I've got 30 leather tubs running off spare hides means my buy prices for trash level would be ridiculously low.

It's a very valid argument, unless I'm just creating a system for the sake of making newbies enjoy earning metal products.

You ask for things that you need.
Things that would take more effort to make than the thing that you are selling.
