UA isn't going to touch boars this world until you're statted up. You'll probably want to fill a quiver before starting the hunt so you don't run out before killing it. If you use bow only, STR, AGI, and UA are irrelevant.

Ah I had a boar last night that I shot a few times, doing 125 damage before it started running. Didn't know if I should chase it down and punch to death or if it might turn around and fight back. I have a q10 bow and 26 marksman

sometimes they'll turn back and go aggressive again but you can just about run faster than a boar at running speed (animal speed varies slightly but I've never encountered a boar that's faster than a player), easily if you can sprint (make sure you have plenty of water) so they're fairly safe to chase after.

Best bet is to get plenty of arrows, find a clover and give it to a horse, then you can freely manoeuvre around almost all large game and hunt them at your leisure (while the wild horse lasts)
Oh boy, here I go cheesemaking again...

If you're anywhere near ocean, mullet is great. Best strength to other stats ratio of all common fish, and it's pure strength when dried. And generally it's easier to find a specific ocean fish than a freshwater fish, simply because there's less different kinds. You should be fishing with a casting rod, of course.

Still working on getting a loom at the moment but will keep that in mind. Appreciated. Will have to look for ocean as well.

With low WIL, and no credo, casting rod can be a massive waste of time.

My #1 STR food this world was roast / spitroast / dried Pike. Been catching it with bushcraft fishingpole and entrails. Once you find the spot, it's a guaranteed catch in minimal time (compared to casting rod which can take a while with multiple failures and/or line+hook breakages). Took me all the way to 40 STR.

Due to the new casting rod mechanics, I'm in agreement that they're useless at low will*surv. Since you can only see your 1-2 worst nodes, it's hard to find a useful catch rate node.

Oh I tried using the casting rod and noticed those issues. Well thank you and Sevenless for the tip, will be going back to bushcraft now lol

It just takes a bit more to find a spot, but when you find it casting rod is still better. I managed to find 55% mullet and 83% eel even with just one fish showing.
