If it's not inside the airlock, they can just enter the log cabin and continue combat.

Yeah, but they mentioned having the door take time to be lock picked. Unless im misunderstanding, you could just have that cabin door locked?

You make airlock where you build a log cabin that you lock, then keep some non-visitorgate open at all times, so you can run into the house, get deaggroed and teleport or log out, before the lock is picked.

Do you really need the log cabin in the airlock for this to work? It seems like you could just have a log cabin outside of your walls to do this.

For an average noob, maybe not.
But you could lock the attacker inside the airlock, then get in the house etc. ( this may also make the attacker more hesitant to even follow you inside the airlock)
Also, airlock gives more protection to the house, they cannot bash it, pick lock or ambush inside it it beforehand.
Building it in the airlock gives it more protection and utilities.

Don't know about you guys, but quality of lock and type matters. I was picking low to mid quality locks in just a few seconds by the time I gave up on the last world. Certainly within the time it would take to stay in combat. Yes, I'd say it makes a difference. Yes, I'll admit I have "reading comprehension" issues (i'm only average according to my school standardized testing), but I didn't miss this in this thread. Don't rely on locks to protect you for getting out of combat. If you're investing in "best quality" steel locks, you probably can rely on that lock to give you time to break combat and hearth out. If you're some hermit relying on whatever quality wood or metal lock you can make...

It is possible to make a "circular" airlock system with mine holes that would require any aggressors chase you through multiple doors and gates just in case they are capable of picking your locks quickly.
