Is there a trick to water wells?

I have placed a few wells and I have found the high water mark by dowsing, but yet. All I get is ql 10.

Is there something special I need to do? It's driving me a bit crazy.

I used dowsing to locate the high water mark and installed wells, but I'm only getting ql 10." Any advise or suggestions for improving water quality would be highly appreciated. Thanks!Magic 8 Ball

Your answer is in this thread. water quality has nothing to do with the dowsing rod.
quality is the same as any other water quality, node based. the dowsing rod finds you locations where the well requires the least amount of resources to build. if you have a shit ton of rope and stone it doesn't matter where you put it
