Just don't mine on horse, simple as that, leave the horse out of your sight and block it with boulders or smth then come back for it when done mining the section. This game does not do refunds on dying to something EVEN IF that thing is a bug (and if it's been in the game for years it's probably not even considered a bug)

Reminds me of the fact that "Raw Hide!" is a 10 second stun. When you know the context for it, there's a solid logic. But if you don't it's an unfair, obtuse noob trap that likely gets you killed.

Currently, it's very unintuitive to realize that riding a horse makes you MORE vulnerable in many situations.

I run into a random person. I have a horse and they don't. I can go talk to them safely because if they turn hostile I'm much faster. WTF HAX!?

There seems to be no penalty whatsoever for riding a horse in mines. I can flee from slimes etc. and carry stuff. WTF WHY AM I DEAD!?

(Raw Hide! is deemed necessary by the devs and pvp playerbase to not turn pvp into "cavalry autowins.")
(Trolls "hate" horses to prevent cheesing them with a horse.)

In both cases, there's a strong argument to be made that something else could instead "remove honse" like a soft CC (horse is feared into running randomly, or is locked into lowest speed, effectively forcing a dismount.)

You already move faster than trolls, so I highly doubt it's an intentional anti-cheese feature. If you roped a pig or something and stood next to it while mining it'd have nearly the same effect. It's just that Loftar didn't consider the edge case while initially coding the thing, then decided it was a feature because he's 2lazy to change it.

It's far more than "some" especially considering all the time having to relearn every item all over again. I've already died several times, but each time there was something I could have done to avoid it. This time, there was not and it reeks of not respecting the player's time, which sadly I don't have the patience for any more.

You died again and what you could have done to avoid this scenario was NOT go mining while on a horse. As stated before, this is just another lesson. Bury your body/skull, and get back out there. No sense in crying on the forums for your character back in a perma death game. Lol

But, seriously, mining with a horse seemingly has zero downsides until you spawn a troll and die instantly. Very definition of a "newb trap."
