Thanks for pointing me to the info.

One quick question though, is there a ratio of absorb damage to wear or is it just 1:1?

1:1

It made sense to bring it up to me because at low stats you need armor to tame animals at all. But yeah, the guide format isn't 100% perfect at being searched (I tried to list everything in the quicknav to make searching a little easier).

I've started hunting badgers and foxes because I am able to kill them - finally! But I kinda do not understand the formula of butchering them...

For example I have fox 75/25/25, so what survival skill do I need and what stone axe QL to be able to get 75 essence and rest 25/25 so it doesnt softcapp? Do you guys know the formula maybe? Because actually I am getting like 2/4 of the QL's

I butchered this fox with Stone axe: 15/12/26 = 19 QL
My butchering character got 40 survival
I've received hide: 41,3/18,5/25

So it means my stone axe should have 75/25/25 QL or more to not loose quality that much? Because I only lost 1 QL of vitality while I was using 26 Vitality stone axe, I am guessing good?

Also does somebody know whats the new formula for qLeather, QTuningTub, and all the usefull stuff? That would be awesome to know, so you do not mess up your good QL sources/animals like I did

The formula for hides works like this:

Animal quality + tool quality / 2 = Highest potential quality you can get.

Highest quality + survival / 2 = quality you receive.

Note these are both soft caps iirc meaning if tool quality is above hide you just use the raw animal quality for "highest quality". Likewise your survival will never increase the butchered item quality beyond the highest quality the animal+ tool can give. Lets look at your essence

75+15/2 = 45

45+40/2 = 42.5

Using these raw formulas, I'd expect you to be getting 42.5 essence from the numbers you gave. I can't explain the small discrepancy, but the devs have mentioned some rounding bug still hiding somewhere so that might be responsible.

If you wanted to perfectly butchered that, you'd need 75/25/25 or higher tool and 75 survival. The best it can possibly produce is 75/25/25 though, since neither tool nor skill increase quality for butchering.

@Sevenless

Thanks, it's working fine mate, the QL's are almost the same like +/-2 QL from the formula.

If you know the formula of leather quality and leather set formulas I'd be thankful... I mean I wanna craft best leather set, and I wanna know at which skills should I start crafting it so I do not waste my high QL sources, thanks in advance

Btw, which skills and what items do I need to discover "hitching post"?

Since leather is a "sit and cook in a structure", there are no skills influencing its quality. Just the quality of the tub, water, tannin and hide. All of those tell you what skills you need to craft them in the crafting menu (make sure all of them are higher than the highest quality you're getting, generally multi skill/stat inputs use the formula of square root of stat*skill).

I don't know the exact formula any better than the wiki would though.

have a look, a lot is still outdated but most of the quality formulas are the same.

Perhaps like Curiosity I sing to myself, but so be it.

I feel the guide, unlike its predecessor or the salem version, is fully complete. Not perfect, still needing tweaking and more pretty images, but covering all the topics in sufficient depth to get players started.

Hurray :)
