Which sentence(s) use Wald to generically mean forest instead of the ingame asset? When you reveal the dev naming for the tile, they are named "wald" specifically which is why I refer to it as the wald biome. Compared to the other forest biomes like pinebarrens, it's actually a distinct thing.

Confusing if you understand german I guess XD

Thanks for reminding me though. The treeplanting section needs an update.

Edit: Aha, found it. Treeplanting mechanics have been changed since I wrote it, meaning that specifically needing wald over any forest tile is no longer true. As such, a lot of the wording does make it look like I was using wald as a generic term for forest instead of specifically referring to that forest type.

The combat discovery system is a confusing mess to say the least, however after some combat experimentation I can say the following with some certainty:

-Three factors play into how frequently you discover things: pure RNG, what animal you're fighting, and what moves you're using.

For instance, I get discoveries regularly from all animals now except ants, which I used to get discoveries regularly from until they one day just completely stopped (I farmed discoveries from them a lot, they seem to eventually trail off)

However today I unlocked feigned dodge (from a different animal obviously) and got a discovery from an ant almost instantly after using it (a first in weeks from ants). My hunch is that using a move (on a certain animal?) for the first time allows you to unlock a few more discoveries, so trying different move combos on animals that have stopped giving you discoveries should restore your ability to get discoveries from them.

That or I got super lucky this one time, however I find this unlikely as I've literally fought hundreds of ants in the past few weeks and got nothing; either way I'm going to work to prove this theory further, mainly because I still haven't discovered the shield block

Equipment matters, too. If you don't have appropriate equipment, you'll never get the discovery to come up.

Oh really? So does higher AC mean more discoveries?

did I say anything about AC? I said equipment. From what i'm gathering from reading, you can't get the shield block if you don't have a shield equipped. You can't get sting if you don't have a spear or sword.

Ohhhhhhhhh

That makes much more sense, I thought you meant armor specifically. That also may be why I haven't discovered the shield block yet, I never bother equipping a shield

Thanks for reminding me. I've known that for a while but forgot to expand that discovery section after learning about it. Supposedly it comes from loftar?
