Those of you posting times to burn please give what wood you're using? We've already been told that type does matter. I don't care myself if you give charcoal returned, but knowing what types burn relatively fast might help us get something figured out.

Just did 6 Kilns, each one has 1 block of a different type of wood, here are the results:

1 log of Pine, Burned for 30 minutes, Yielded 2 Coal, 0.48Lt of Tar
1 log of Fir, Burned for 30 minutes, Yielded 2 Coal, 0.10Lt of Tar
1 log of Spruce, Burned for 30 minutes, Yielded 2 Coal, 0.31Lt of Tar
1 log of Yew, Burned for 30 minutes, Yielded 2 Coal, 0.10Lt of Tar
1 log of Cedar, Burned for 30 minutes, Yielded 2 Coal, 0.11Lt of Tar
1 log of Cyprus, Burned for 30 minutes, Yielded 2 Coal, 0.11Lt of Tar

Will be posting more as i test each type of wood. Hope this helps.

If devs ninja fixed it then can't understand why they not fixed all tarns :?

If it's related to map unloading (no players in the area), the longer the burn the more likely you are to trigger the bug. Short burns would usually succeed, max time ones almost always fail.

Speaking of which, I'm going to try testing that over dinner.

The more the merrier, would love it if someone else would compare their results with mine, i was really stumped when it only took 30 minutes..

Ok, set 1 block of pine to burn at exactly 6:20. Logged off immediately, I live in a remote-ish area. In good theory, the map should unload almost immediately. If I can get this thing to burn longer than 30 minutes, we have evidence it's a map unloading issue.

If this doesn't work I'll go to 2 blocks and leave it overnight.

40 minutes checked back and it was done.

Moving to 2 blocks, start time 7:00pm

Interesting note: Tar Kiln quality had no effect on the coal quality.

Well i started my Cypress logs over an hour ago now, still going and the area has been loaded the whole time.

This is either some strange math or the Kiln is bugged to hell, doesn't make any sense..

:/ Really hoping we can find the pattern to help them fix it. Because something's really wonky, but computers are almost always wonky in a predictable manner...

Ok, so 1 hour 30 minutes this time, Cypress Log, all 6 Kilns finished. 2 Coal each. Going to do it ONE more time with Cypress Logs to see if its random or not.
