I heard someone say that it is possible that an individual male animal may refuse to ever breed with a female. Is this true, and if so, wouldn't it be a good idea to keep your previous best breeding male alive in reserve until you confirm your new best candidate male will actually breed?

I doubt that they wont breed - but yes - we had a "gay" hog for a while. Same happened with a bull or 2 - but eventually they get started ;D (men you gotta cuddle them  )

I've definitely observed a breeding desynch of some kind. I'm pretty sure it's based on feeding cycles. If I recall correctly, loftar said animals only breed when full. Animals also only eat when at exactly 90% hunger.

The 90% hunger thing can cause "starvation" if any of the pen is outside the trough radius. And it seems plausible to me that feeding cycles can not synch up to a certain point? I've definitely had a pair that took more than a week to breed, although it's usually 2-3 days initially.

A more definite answer would have to come from jorb/loftar.

Nope. Please read the information provided about getting seeds. You simply need to look in areas you haven't looked before as some seeds are rarer in different areas than others. It may help if you make a map or use some of the third party tools available.

i did read the information, and i have collected the seeds by straight line foraging, it just stood me up as too rare that out of the many seeds i have gotten, those 2 didnt appear even once, while collecting weeds many minimaps appart from each other

Welcome to computer based RNG.

Hemp and flax were both easy finds for me, to the point that we foraged and used them to up seed quality several times. Lettuce if I remember correctly took weeks to find. Despite skewing the odds in your favour via straightline foraging you've managed to be really unlucky.

All I can say is try again but walk much further, or set up a charter stone and trade for some.

The problem was you took someone's idea of walking in straight lines. This covers less and less ground the farther you go. The best idea is to start spiraling. However, without a modded client or map*, you can't really know when you need to step out to check another area or where you left off. If you don't want to bother with the whole map checking, try lines other than the cardinal directions or strictly NE, SE, NW, SW.

*Modded clients can show you the map tile boundaries and will cache the tiles they have downloaded. You can use different sessions with tools to combine them to make your own Google Maps style layout.

The point behind suggesting the whole straight line concept was to encourage players to get distance from their main base. Players have a bad habit of sticking close to areas they know. Well, bad when they're trying to find seeds they're missing at least. Since seed spawns are regional, staying near base isn't going to help people because we already know the area near their base is pretty well traveled and missing the right seeds. It's also simple to explain, simple to perform, so it really hits the sweet spot for easy advice ala beginners. But I agree it's not perfect.

All told, I'm just glad trading is back. If players really can't find what they need, they can arrange a trade now.

Since the update of energy from 5,000 to 10,000, you might want to edit the part about keeping your energy above 4,000 to heal ant wounds to say 8,000
