don't know if this will count, but you can use dried squirrel tails for the hide selection of the "still life" curio.

which makes me think you may be able to turn squirrel tails into leather, haven't tried it yet though

I'm pretty sure you can't. I'm pretty sure that Dried Squirrel Tail counts as "patch of hide."

You are correct. Squirrel tale only counts as a hide. I have never successfully put one in a tanning tub.

Not sure if this is a new one since the latest update but here it goes.
If others quests have the same requirement for example "catch a big fish" then all quests with that requirement will be marked in green as done.
Therefore it saves you from worrying that you need to "catch a big fish" independently for every quest.
I thought it might be helpful for those who are doing multiple quests.

Useless fact (or is it ;)): It is possible to bring back a max of 4 identical scents. 2 in containers placed in your boat, 1 on your cursor and 1 in your inventory

If you're using containers in vehicles, you could actually get more in a Knarr, then?
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

This one is obvious and probably well known, but what the hell.

While foraging with low stats, make 2 sets of clothes. SET 1 for perception + exploration, SET 2 for survival.
On low levels, without even having leather discovered, you can have 6 glideable pieces of gear equipped: nettle hat, 2 x nettle shirt, 2 x nettle pants, clogs.

Start with SET 1. Once you've spotted a forageable object on the map, start making your way towards it while changing to SET 2.
Perception*Exploration drops, but forageables stay, your survival hard cap goes up. Profit. (You will have to sacrifice some inventory slots, but instant boost in quality just might be worth it)

Hunting/foraging with disposable characters (I will call them slaves here).
Again, most of it is obvious but new players might find it useful maybe.

Multiple stages of tryharding.

Stage 1.
Looks like early in the game guests give significant LP boost, very often you will have to park your boat and walk quite a lot to a quest objective. Jump on a boat, sit your slave in the passenger seat. Load 2 crates. While sailing to your objective, load crates and both your and slave's inventory with crap you find on your way. Park, walk to your objective. If you can't be bothered to walk back to your boat, your slave can TP with the boat.

Stage 2.
Same as stage 1, but give your slave a cupboard as well. You'll have to either go back to your boat or slave will have to sail back alone.

Stage 3.
Hunting with 1 slave and 4 boats. I find this to be the most effective way to hunt and this was actually the reason I've decided to write this down.
Load slave's inventory with branches/blocks. Sit in separate boats, carry one extra each. You'll have to switch between windows a lot. Find an animal, drop extra boats, aggro with main, bring an animal to a good spot on a shore. Slave traps an animal with 2 boats. If it's an aggressive animal, make sure slave doesn't stay in neither of the trapping boats, otherwise you might lose both slave and a boat. This is easy to pull off since slave has three boats at his disposal.
This way you can take home 8 dead animals (2 in each boat) and it doesn't take much time/effort at all.

Next one is a slave abuse and should be illegal :D
Stage 4.
Stage 3 + one or two extra slaves, sit them in passenger seats, let them carry a cupboard or yet another boat each. (it seems like you can only put an empty cupboard in the boat).
It's too much of a hassle for me, but hey, some of you guys might be this crazy.
