Sweetgum boards, cherry blocks + elm bough and Cypress boards/blocks + elm bough

I'm actually sad, that sweetgum was so pretty they don't look like they're intentionally ugly anymore.

I was originally going to try for basalt as secondary+tertiary, so put in all the gneiss. Then I couldn't find any basalt veins, and coal wouldn't work, so I went for limestone and schist... and got pure fucking gneiss. fml.
Mats:
142 Gneiss
42 limestone
66 schist
50 Alder boughs
64 block of Fir
36 blocks and 12 boards of Golden Chain
32 boards of Bird Cherry
16 boards of Walnut
5 Cast Iron

It seems golden chain and fir have exactly the same texture and colour? I chose these two because they were similar, didn't realise how similar.

Never use boughs for a mansion. That's the ugliest part imo.

Fir doesn't look too bad if you pair it with a lighter coloured beam.

Finished ... and after all that I don't like it .... lol .... I was expecting the panelling to come out slightly pinker and I've now gone off tar roofs. :(

Materials:

Blocks - cypress - 120
Planks - walls - plum - 36
Planks - trim - cypress - 18
Planks - mixed - 6
Roof - tar sticks - 16, mixed boughs - 12, straw - 2

But if anyone does like it .... I'm leaving this plot tomorrow and will be declaiming it, I plan to leave the gates open and the keys are inside the smaller house, it doesn't have much and quality on crops are low, only been playing for 2 wks, but it would be fine for a starter base. If someone wants it you can pm me for location, otherwise it will hopefully be a nice find for a newb. :D

I love the color of plum boards but I hate how low yield plum logs are. Good luck in your travels Amanda!

Stonestead

Barley Thatching
Larch Blocks & Boards
20 Cherry Boards for the door
Stone is Flint

Looks even more lovely in the morning, when the sun lights its front.

Thanks for the guide! Couldn't have done it without all the info here :)

I'm now planning a log cabin right next to it so it looks 'L' shaped. According to Sevenless, the log ends are determined by the 2nd Block, is that correct? So if I use a white/light wood as the first block and Larch (dark) as the second block, will it be white/light with dark edges? Thanks :D
