mining and ore smelting?

for the sake of not making another thread, how are you guys getting coal, i've read that supposedly it comes from a tarpir kiln, is this the case? or misinformation?

Charcoal can be made in the tarpit kiln. I've not seen how long it takes to burn. (day, 2 days?) I've seen someone post they found actual coal by mining.

It means there is nothing there. That brown dirt colour means you've found nothing at all.

I've been knocked out twice, and know other people who've been knocked out.

Don't think cave ins are fatal yet. Maybe if you try to mine with like 1 Hp or something, but I wouldn't risk it.
