My miner atm usues marsh-mallows for energy, mixed with grasshopers and musghroom burst glutton. Ofc they are eaten only when my hunger/satations are high.

Spitroast meat has better energy/hunger ratio than roasted meat. Also almost always better FEPs, too. Notably Spitroast Boar is pure STR. Of course this is offset by the destruction of hide, guts and bones by the spitroasting.

Until it cools, sure... and it's still a poor hunger:energy ratio.

Still better than roasted meat, but good point. To get best FEP/hunger out of small animal carcass, Mushroom-Burst Glutton is probably the way to go.
