I shall share my two bear killing methods.
My first method involves setting up cliffs around your area with stockpile circles as before to trap the bear in. The cliffs you choose need to be pretty large, as a rule of thumb you usually want both ends of the cliff to go past your vision radius on the mini map. Once you have a couple areas set up murdering bears is simple. After locating a bear you mark their location on your map or just remember the area they are in because bears do not typically despawn or move without a player loading the area. After marking the spot go get a horse from somewhere, if you didn't already have one. Then you proceed to aggro the bear and lead him all the way to your new cliff trap. Its best to alternate the horse from move speed 3 and 2 so you don't use all the horses stamina up. The bear is faster than speed 2 however so you have to be careful, they can hit you while you are on a horse.
Once at the cliff you can leave the bear in the dust or ride into your trap and have him follow you. You should dismount, and jump up your cliff. At this point you will need someone else to close up your trap to make sure he does not escape later on. Once the trap is closed you can proceed to shoot his ass in the face. The trick to not having him bash the stockpiles and run after you shoot him is stupid simple. Deaggro him after he runs, and the bear won't destroy things he runs into. Just bounces off them like before. This trick is nice because one person can do it if they have an alt just to place stockpiles.
I feel like animals in flee mode should count as in combat even after you deaggro them until they stop running faster, but eh whatever.
The other method I like to use to kill bears is, if you have a person with the stats, to tank the bear while another person just shoots them. In my experience so far the bear will never leave the person tanking, nor will it run at all. So long as they can tank safely, you can just shove arrows up that bears ass. However I should mention that there was a ninja patch last night that might of fixed the animals won't flee if 2 people have them aggroed thing. I didn't think it was a bug, but maybe it was. I think it was ninja patched because immediately after that server restart a horse ran while we both had it aggroed, and the other 5 times we had done that to horses they didn't run.
