Hah, nice, 9bloomdream :)

And I have also noticed the rng being streakier than appears reasonable, with smelters too... guess your average has improved now!

I know that I shouldn't buy into this kind of thinking, but it REALLY does feel like that, I don't do metal personally but it feels like when Q is decreasing on one of my crops or pretty much any of the other RNG elements of the game, for example, it really does feel like it trends for a while...

RNG... it breaks the strongest of men
Oh boy, here I go cheesemaking again...

I have now purchased the deep artifice skill and ive smelted 100 ore and produced 0 cast iron bars. I burned the cast iron I had saved before getting deep artifice and got 0/9 wrought iron.

Ive talked with a few other villages and they have also made notes that deep artifice is not worth the lp.
What have you guys noted on the subject?

Well under the old system the metal was determined by who mined it. So if you mined it before getting deep artifice maybe that rule still applies. Try with ore mined after purchasing the skill. I may be wrong but it is a note of the past so might be in use.
