Is brimstone:

A fuel as in coal?
A fire starter?

Or what?

Not sure yet. It says it decays over time. Might be a fuel. Might be needed to summon Nidbanes. Jorb did say some of these global resources would be needed for such things now. Brimstone would certainly make sense in that regard.

My main question now is, do we have any idea of how the regeneration works?

Without necessarily telling the entire story, there is a global rate of "refill" of these resources, which is divided among the sources that have been picked from. If there were two geysers in the entire world and you controlled them both, you would get as much brimstone regardless of whether you harvested from both of them or only one.
