Attacking someone is a risky action; unless you're experienced you usually end up dying in the process.

From what you say the problem may be that you haven't built a stake claim yet, is that so? You'll need the skill Yeomanry for that. With a stake claim it is much harder for other players to destroy your stuff.

We build a claim - but he destroyed it - wearing a boat on his head.

We got no problem with pvp, no problem with griefer - but we were simply not able to defend us on any way.

Sounds stupid - but is it possible to play the game offline... till I know enough to compete with guys like this?

How old was your claim? If it's too young it can be destroyed easily. And crime isn't very balanced, it isn't easy to defend yourself when you're outside a walled area.

As someone mentioned before: this is probably the best thread in the forum to understand how new social players feel joining hafen now. Hope Jorbtar can find solutions to these issues.
