i forgot: for a noob, getting in a cave and mining a single tile may be very useful, because you can easilu get better ql stones, and by splitting a block with survival >10 you'l get also a better ql branch, so voilà! a better ql axe if you don't have iron for a pickaxe, and every bit helps here.

Remember that you can continue the block splitting with the new axe, to get better branches than before, to make an even better axe,...

Can you get Ql higher than 10 on L1 caves ? I've always found Ql10....

Quality comes in nodes. Look more. It goes a lot higher. I've found 40+ already this world, and that was my first (albeit lucky) try.

Havnt got into mining much yet. I scratched tiles and found metal already ;) need to establish a bit more before tho

The cave-ins are funny now. You can get a cave-in by chipping out one of the unknown/cave blocks but after that you are safe to chip at any spot that does not give the dust particle effect.

Once you get a cave-in, its like an avalanche is set loose and half the cave comes crashing down. During my cave-in none of the boulders that came down hit me tho. I think i was lucky the first boulders trapped me and the avalanche moved on from there.
