build a wilderness beacon and make a new character(at most an hour, mostly on your friend). if no, then go play club penguin or farmville, cause this is definitely not the game for you. this game takes lots of patience to start

but, this game is for masochists and trolls or you will have a bad time sooner or later due to mechanics such as dying and quality/stat grind. dying is a 'feature' of this game (it's a survival game) and it only takes a couple minutes to lose your main character only to restart with a percentage of stats from days, weeks, months worth of time and effort

Club Penguin is close down soon.

Random generating maps have all kinds of obscure cases that can be hard to predict or prevent. This is not "Hello World".

The game provides a natural means of escape in case you get stuck, in that you can return to your Hearthfire.

That's pretty cut and dry. I dunno what the issue was here?

An idea to consider: Tedium, a Feature.

Arguably the entrance is bugged out, and arguably it should perhaps collision check for tiles before entering, or whatever.

Thanks for taking the time to read and reply.

I think the arguments would stack more towards "bugged" than "not bugged" in this case. And you couldn't really dismiss every "stuck" bug on the basis that you can just TP out of it.

I understand that making entrance tiles imprevious to cave-ins would be exploitable, but perhaps make it so that cave-ins at least let two adjacent entrance tiles free or even randomly clear them up if the cave-in manages to touch the entrance? Yes this isn't "Hello World!" and could bring in nastier bugs but...

Edit: or just make the entrance bigger than 1 "pixel"/unit if you can - I'm not up to date on whether you fixed that kink in the engine though.

We'll look at it. Sorry for your troubles.

I think this is reasonable, similar to how you can't get up and down stairs or cellars if someone has blocked the path. Maybe make it so that you can't see in, either. It is blocked from a cave in, after all.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

I.e. you can't clear the cave-in in that case? So, when I come to the area, I scout the caves, either make one my own or dig a minehole, then deliberately call a cave-in in all the cave entrances around so it's harder to get under my base? Doesn't sound very good...

This is not a bug and does not need to be fixed. Ysh said Shift+ click to look inside first. You have travel to HF. Hell I never even set foot into a cave when I started unless I was ready for the risk it entailed. Having 23 HHP left there is no reason to take the risk if your heading to your friend. Again you can cause cave in in RL that you can get into a cave and get stuck. This is a simple case of its not broke so dont fix it. This is like so many other arguments in C&I. Players are given so many tools to fix issues and because they are lazy they demand it be fixed. Hell it was even said by OP.
cLick1338 wrote:Pic attached - is this supposed to happen?
Fresh character, my only HF is very very far away from here (3 hours of sailing away to be honest) - I really don't want to go back.

cLick1338 wrote:I wasted 5 hours of an off day + 5 hours of a friend's to get all the way there - a combined 10 hours wasted.
I'd rather just quit altogether than do it again.

So you were near death and decided to venture into a cave with no bat cape or making a HF near by? Its a fresh toon take the death and use a beacon. And if you used 10 hours to get to your friend then why not make the new HF? Didn't have the dream? You should of had that before you left any base. Couldn't get a dream? You shouldn't risk your character then.

I'm being overly critical and I will apologize now but I have to hear about this so much in the forums and IG. If you're going to play stupidly don't whine when you get killed. Plan things out and use the tools that are given to you to survive.
