If we banned bots it would probably cause 2/3rd of the player base to quit.... True, but it might bring in a lot of players who want to play pvp not pvb. But... Jorb and Loftar want this to be a competitive and blood thirsty, basically immoral game. And botting is very much in the spirit of that. If you only had polite people playing who didn't look for ways to gank all the other players it would not be H & H... So the game is designed to attract botters, making it very difficult to change the game to discourage it, even if you start doing mechanical things that punish botters. I think turning botters into a protected class, like wizards would be better. Prove you are running bots and you get a special hat and some privileges. That will bring the botters into the open. And then rather than banning them or trying to nerf them, the devs can develop around their bots.

This is what they do already. Some game features exist because of botting, some exist to decrease the need for botting. Jorb's general statement on the matter is if people want to bot it (short of those folks that will bot everything just to see if they can), it's probably not a fun mechanic and needs to be redesigned.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
