Beekeeping costs what 500 lp to learn? The fact that it is nearly impossible for a fresh character to raid a beehive without luck is fairly ridiculous. If the bees went as fast as ants then that would be fine but they are speedy motherfuckers and the hives just keep spawning over and over and over. There should be a mechanic that allows you to smoke the bees out or something, as right now it isn't fun.

I've attempted dozens of hives along rivers and coasts trying to find even ONE that doesn't immediately crap out a pair of beeswarms, and literally every single one has spawned exactly 2. I'm not fighting them based on what people have said, I simply cannot accumulate more wounds on top of all the other ones that have become a regular occurrence, especially if my AGI is going to be taking a hit

edit: i too support a smoking mechanic, but the required materials to do so should reflect the difficulty currently in place, else nobody will ever consider fighting bees rather than smoking. That said, is there even a possible material cost for this? People will guaranteed go the smoker route unless the materials for a smoker involve something absolutely barbaric like 1 of each localized resource or something else totally unreasonable

You get 1 larvae per wax harvested.

don't think it's 100%

well that's better than nothing, my rage is sated somewhat.

Fresh has little to do with it when the vets, who know the tricks, are annoyed. it's just pure luck.

And several games have met with huge success either because of or despite the complete RNG of loot--Diablo franchise, Path of Exile to name a couple.

It is definitely not.

Here is my guide on how to raid a beehive easily:

Prerequisites: 2 toons with beekeeping. 1 rowboat.

Step 1: Find a beehive near water.
Step 2: Walk the toon with higher survival up to the beehive, but do not raid it.
Step 3: Raid the beehive with the other toon (the "bait toon"). Make sure her path is not blocked by the first toon. As soon as the bees aggro, get in the boat and start fleeing. Rowboats go faster than bees. Lure them away a bit.
Step 4: Raid with the toon who is standing by the hive. The bees will aggro, but will be busy with the other toon. Peace out the combat relation. When you are done raiding, hearth home.

During step 4 you should also be luring the bees away/around with your bait toon. When the raiding toon is done and hearthed home, you can peace the combat on the bait toon, lose the bees, and also hearth home.
i guess they never miss huh

Yeah the fact that I would need an alt just to do basic farming or get wax is kinda bullshit. I've tried pretty much an empty hive and suddenly two swarms of bees pop out. I can kill one or two, but the hive just keeps popping out more and more fucking bees. Even with 26 STR and 21 UA

And even with that, the camera can fuck up and not let me click the damn beehive again, with other trees blocking the way. Even then the timing seems really fucking strict.

I think the general consensus has become "If it has no bees patrolling, attempt to raid it. If it spawns bees, just run them off and leave it alone."

I suppose bees have a couple of combat moves, but I'm not sure the beestings are worth it. (Maybe they should always give Sting?)

They always give stings as to what I've found and that doing just the basic mechanic of raiding a beehive is 200% harder than ant hive, even with 3-4 ants I'd have to beat up beforehand, still is easier than trying to raid a beehive.
