This. If you find anything that's not iron, collect it so you can make supports when you find/make an iron mine.

Only when you find iron should you make, ASAP, an anvil, then a smithy's hammer. Then use the non-iron to make supports and as "any common metal", and the iron for hard metal purposes only.

Beside spending it on supports, u should check Sevenless' beginner guide to Haven and Hearth
Sevenless wrote:Metal expenditures of particular interest, roughly in order I decided to get them
Village idol 1 bar (village chat, 101x101 claim area)
Anvil set = 5 + 2 bars (needed to do pretty much anything else with metal)
Pickaxe = 4 bars (much faster mining speed)
Meat Grinder = 3 bars (new FEPs from hunted meat, AGI off deer sausage is particularly nice)
2 Wooden Chests = 4/10th of a bar each (carrying capacity to make ore hauling easier. Pair this with a road for teleportation to triple your effectiveness)
2 Spectacles = 1/10th of a bar each (bonus PER)
Metal Shovel = 1 bar (faster digging)
Metal Saw = 1 bar (more boards/log)
Metal Axe = 2 bar (more blocks/log)
Metal Cauldron = 6 bars (instant boil instead of waiting 10 minutes for a clay cauldron)

English is neither my native lang, nor my best side...

I do know that tar kiln can hold 80 blocks or 40 boards, but does mean by burning either 80 blocks or 40 boards will = 10L of tar?

amount of tar is dependent on wood type as well as board vs block

So it means that could produce more than 10L tar, for example 20L tar and if I take it with my bucket which I do know can hold only up to 10L, but will there be another 10L to take or if I fail to collect it the remaining 10L will be lost or are they stored within the tar, but only 10L at a time?
Just want to make sure, so I wouldn't burn too many and only get the same if i burned less.

I've never gotten over 10l with boards ... and yes, any remainder will be stored in the kiln, you can just return for it later.
I don't know exact amounts of tar per wood type but pine, beech and fir all seem to give good returns and I mainly use them.
Someone else my have more info regarding amounts. :)

So if tar kiln produces 15L I can take 10L and come back with another bucket for remaining 5L. good to know. So gonna burn as many as it fits.

On that subject, is there any variation as to the amount of charcoal block/board types give?

Pretty sure it's only two per block, no matter the wood type. I'm not sure about boards (legacy was still only two per board, just was a way to get better quality over blocks).

Can anyone (any random passerby) open a roundpole gate on a village claim? Or does the "trespass" permission not include opening gates?
