Just as rarely as all the other layers, i.e. not often.

what do the colors of the mountains mean?

is there some kind of terrain like in W3 where you had jungle or whatnot, its not swamp but you could not run in it and you would have to plow it in order to use it?

The red and grey colours are rock/stone and the white is snow, if you haven't been to one yet you should, the snow is awesome and you can make snowballs and snowmen. :D
Snow is also used to make the Cold Compress which is a healing item used to treat concussion.

It's also where you find mammoths.

No, there is no longer thicket.

personal claims, I tried the wiki but it's still old info.

any links would be really appreciated:

but in the meantime.

I think my claim will become active after 8 hours, is this correct?

during this time is it like there is no claim there(IE people can come over and just loot my stuff?)

are p-claims now a LP sink?(not a 1 time price, but like a weekly or monthly cost, kinda like the legacy village claims were?

thank you for the info folks.

I think http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Personal_Claim has this information.
You must wait 8 hours and then go to claim again in person for it to be active.
Before this it is like no claim is there, yes.
It is one time price for buying tiles. After this you will get item in your study. This item has number value. Number will go down over time. For each 1 LP you will win from study, this number goes up by 1. It becomes maxed at something around 750 and only loses something like 10 a day. It is trivial to keep this one.

if I level terrain and put low quality dirt in to fill low spots, will the new terrain have the Q of dirt I filled in or keep it's original Q?

Any soil dug from a spot is equal to the quality of the node. Filling in an area doesn't change the node quality. Thus, you will always dig up 90/90/90 dirt from that particular spot, even if you filled with 10/10/10 soil.

is the leather making mechanics the same as in legacy?

just made a tannin tub and put in a bark and water and I see I can place 3 rabbit furs into one tub?

so can I fill up a tanning tub with furs or is it like old, where one tub for 1 fur that being either rabbit, boar, or bear?

(Edit: i thought my previous statement was a lil hard to understand)
