All I see is a sketchbook that says "Sketchbook, 1 page"
The only option to do with it is "split" which brings a window asking "how much?" and from there I'm stuck

Try to take 1 page, it should bring up dialog box with all your uploaded images for you to pick one. I never bothered to buy a sketchbook, those pigments are not very hard to get.

Make sure you have "Painting" skill and uploaded images.

The issue is I can't split it. I type in "1" and hit enter and nothing happens.

It's a stack of one. It's an interface flaw in that it still gives you the option. Try this with one seed, etc.

Go to your Account page and upload an image. Then, provided you have Painting skill, you can craft that image in-game. Then you craft a shield with this image avaliable as a reagent (in your inventory or an open container). The resulting shield will have that image.

Sketchbook page allows you to craft an image without required pigments and PSY, afaik.

Various items can use custom images. Shields seem to be most common, then certain capes, banners, etc. Getting an effective image is a lengthy discussion and I believe there's a thread or two.

yeah but I can't actually use it that's my problem dude. When I try to craft a sketch, even with the sketchbook, it gives me a "you need more psy" message and required a fuckload of pigments anyway. The sketchbook page doesn't seem to count as an ingredient at all.

^^ When you go to craft the item, i.e. a shield do you have this;



And have you uploaded an image to your account page?

You need to open the pigments and imagery tab and select 'paint masterpiece' ... a pop-up will appear with your uploaded image/images for you to select one, then you just craft it.

Should I have my hands free when attempting unarmed combat?
I've never done any combat before, so I only have the basic moves, which I guess are all unarmed moves, so should I unequip my axe and fishing pole before trying to fight, or does it matter?

No, it doesn't matter, u will do the same damage with same cooldown and everything will work the same.
