What needs to be discovered in order to make a masterwork sketch? Do I need to discover a sketchbook by buying one?

Did you try to see if it can be taught/learnt? If it can't then you need to discover a rainbow pad, which is a fate item found on swamps and used to craft a sketchbook page, although, if you already have the ability to paint an ordinary sketch, which I think you said a few pages back ... then it does look like you will need to buy a sketchbook page to discover the 'paint masterpiece' option.

I assume it works the same way as any other authority structure used for travel like crossroads back in legacy where the road would become unusable if not under a village claim but as soon as it was it worked again. I believe once you build your own idol and cover the charter with a village claim that belongs to you you'll be able to access it and give it a name.

Your question is vague, if you mean can you put a hide on a drying rack at q10 and have the quality raise when it is dried then no that does not happen but the quality of your tanning tub, and water/bark will raise the leather quality if better than the hide.

If you mean can you butcher a hide higher than quality 10, you need to raise survival more or use a higher quality cutting tool or both. Inspect an animal to see its qualities.
