Weird things with claims

Postby Aethyr » Thu Nov 24, 2016 6:10 am

I posted that on the GLoSQ but it has been skipped, so maybe it deserve a thread.

What happens if I build a banner, then I build another banner over the new village area and then I destroy the first banner (so that the second banner now is not over a pre-created village claim)? Does the second banner work?

If I have a village claim and I build walls inside my claim, visitors will gain the "visitor" debuff if they try to enter from an open gate. What happens if I have a gate outside of my village? (For example, if I have one side of my walls just a tile over the village claim).
Can I cover this gate with a personal claim in order to keep the "visitor debuff" on?

Claims block roads, for what I have understand. Does walls block them, too? edit: yeah, seems like that roads can not pass over gates

I'm quite certain it was answered before in that thread, merging.

Yes, unless you break the idol.

Visitor debuff is claim based. It is applied the moment you pass through a gate, it is removed when you leave the claim.

As long as there is a single unclaimed tile within the wall it is possible to drop the debuff inside.
Always claim the complete inside.

Gates blocking roads is a thing that is disliked by some, but a design decision to make roads not completely secure.

I tried with search, but I was not lucky. Never want to spam, sorry.

So, if I completely cover my walls with village + personal claim people will keep their debuff? Or only if I cover them with (mutually exclusive) personal OR village claim? I'm a bit confused about that. For what I read is the first option, but better safe then sorry ^^

The visitor debuff is individual to the claim, you need one claim to completely cover the inside of the wall.

What is a good stat to focus on as a solo player? I'm thinking I should focus on survival because that number impacts nearly everything I do it seems like.. or exploration, but I'm not sure which would be best.

The problem is, you need a high variety of stats to be able to hermit every industry, so there are no dump-stats in Haven.
But yes, it's important to raise your Perc*exploration and survival early game with LP and gilds to unlock more interesting foragables.

sewing, survival, and farming.
Survival will affect every foragable you find, and more importantly, the quality of butchered animals and water/dirt/clay. so you definitely need survival first.
Sewing has become a staple of the hermit's diet now because of gilding. while you can slack off in carpentry, smithing, cooking, exploration(once you hit 50), you will need sewing to get those sweet, sweet gilding bonuses on your (primarily sewing attributed) clothes
Farming is a must have, due to almost all industries being affected by it. cloth from plants, food from plants, curiosities from plants, wood from plants. it all comes back to farming.

if you dont plan on ever dealing with the pvp/ranging side of haven, just forego stealth entirely and focus on UA for pve. mc isnt needed to use chop, so you're golden.

as for FEP attributes, you need em all. the higher the better.
Have a question? Need help? Tired of people asking questions? Haven and Hearth Wiki.
