You dont know if the foraging check is based on base numbers or current numbers ?

Also I am confused on biomes, maybe I just dont have a forest here.

Wiki's info on biomes seems very outdated. I know how to check what biome I am on but dunno which are considered forest. I have not found the 2 wiki says are forests.

Did a quick search of the thread, didn't see this specifically addressed (or if it was, it went over my head):

When doing large landscaping/terraforming projects involving moving thousands of dirt, is there a convenient way to both

a. Pile up the dirt as it accumulates, and
b. Use that pile on another survey that needs hundreds or thousands of dirt to level off?

edit: Like how if you've got stacks of building mats by a construction project, it'll immediately draw from that. Is there anything like that for surveying? (I already tried putting piles of dirt in the survey area, didn't work)

edit2: Related question: do red plains affect farming significantly?

1. We're assuming it's based on the old system. It could have changed, but everything else when it comes to the math seems to be similar (a few quality formulas have changed).

2. Yeah, it's outdated. We could use some people with information to post it. Every wiki page has a talk page things can be posted to for discussion, and we have a wiki thread here on the forums. If there's a subject that needs more than a few posts, make a new thread as things can get jumbled in the main wiki thread if more than one conversation is going on at once. Wiki needs editors, too, if you're willing to learn some basics.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

1 . Based on the old system meaning what ? I am new to the game as of the end of October 2016. Just curious if the math is based on the white numbers under attributes or the red/green numbers and the base number under abilities or the adjusted (red/green) numbers.

2. I am technilogically retarded but am willing to help in any way I can if shown how. I did make an entire page in the discussion tab of a wiki page but after working on it for over an hour when I tried to save it, it said I dont have permission and did not save it

It uses red/green numbers.

And for what I know, if you need 1000 exp*per to see an object, it means that with 1000 you start seeing them, with 2000 you see half of them, and with 4000 you see every single spawn.

Ok thank you. I have the required numbers to see them, just have to figure out the biomes now. In my immediate vicinity I have found...
Wald = bright green (mini map color)
Timberland = Splotchy Orange
Heath = pinkish
beach = Yellow white
pinebarren = brownish green
sombrebramble = Dark green
flowermeadow = splotchy brown
highground = splotchy green tan
Mountain = Grey
dirt = orange
3 kinds of swamp, have not got their names yet

This is predominantly the area for a 30 minute walk. Am I in a bad area ? Are there alot more biomes I should be looking for ?

Because no one has had the common decency to link you to this page yet: http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Terrain

I have quite a few biomes/terrains in that list, but there are some I simply don't have access to. If you want to help expand the wiki, do so on that page

I'm not actually sure if these can be categorized into Forest/grassland. I'm fairly certain every biome has its own set of forageables, and aren't simply lumped into a "forest or grassland" category. The closest I can get is that terrains where you can sprint are grasslands, and biomes where you can run are forests. There are a lot of discrepancies with this though. For example, aurochs and mouflon normally spawn in grasslands such as red plain and cloud range, but also shown on rootbosk. In a similar vein certain forageables on spawn on specific biomes. For example bay boletes and parasol shrooms only spawn on cloud range and blue sod
